ETH Robotics Research Fellowship
The ETH Robotics Research Fellowship (ETH RRF) program offers financial assitance to facilitate collaborations on a specific research project between external researchers and RobotX faculty. The RobotX initiative at ETH Zurich is committed to fostering and cultivating a culture of diversity and equality.
The ETH Robotics Research Fellowship is open to external researchers to ETH Zurich affiliated to an academic research institution in the following career stages:
- PhD students
- Postdocs or Senior Researchers
- Professors
The external researcher must have already the support from a member of RobotX and a research project definition to be eligible to the ETH RRF.
ETH RRF aims to aid in the financial cost of external researchers coming to ETH Zurich for a time period of 3 to 6 months. It will not, however, cover the full costs incurred by the visitor.
The specific amount of the fellowship is decided on a case-by-case basis after studying the application documents.
In order to apply for the fellowship, applicants must first contact a RobotX professor, agree on a research project for the collaboration, and obtain her/his support.
Applications must include the Downloadapplication form (PDF, 416 KB) and the following required documents in one PDF file (font size 12):
- Brief description of the project as agreed between the hosting professor and the visitor (maximum one page, including references). The document should highlight the relevance of this collaboration for the visitors’ current research agenda
- CV of the candidate including a list of publications
- Letter of recommendation from hosting professor
- Written confirmation of the initial financial support granted to the visitor. Notice that the ETH RRF is only an aid to match the high living costs of Switzerland and the travel costs

The selection of the ETH Robotics Research Fellows is made by a subset of RobotX core faculty and the director of education after excluding possible conflicts of interest.
Candidates will receive a response regarding their application by email. Selected candidates will need to confirm their participation at least 1 month before the expected start of the research visit.
ETH RobotX does not provide any support in the administrative process for the external visitor to be accepted at ETH Zurich. Please contact the host professor or the Academic Guest Welcome Center
